Will The Fed’s December Fight Over Rates Spark XRP’s Next Big Move?
December’s decision won’t just move markets. It could decide whether XRP explodes past 3 or sinks back toward its October lows.

The Federal Reserve is heading into one of its most politically and economically sensitive meetings in years. On one side, policymakers like Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic want to keep interest rates high because inflation has been above target for almost five years and is picking up again. On the other, Governor Stephen Miran argues that housing-driven disinflation is already baked in and that keeping rates too high now risks breaking the job market.
While they argue about whether to cut in December, financial markets are stuck in the middle. Fed funds futures assign roughly a 60% chance of a quarter-point cut, which means part of the easing story is already priced in, but not fully decided. XRP’s daily chart reflects exactly that: not panic, not euphoria, but a tight consolidation right at the Bollinger band midline, waiting for a catalyst.
XRP News: How does the Fed’s split view feed into crypto risk appetite?

The Fed is facing a stagflation-style problem: inflation still uncomfortably high, while the risk of higher unemployment is rising. Bostic openly says inflation is the bigger threat and sees little evidence that price pressures will disappear before mid- to late-2026. Add tariff-driven price increases on top, and his camp sees no justification for more rate cuts in the short term.
Miran is looking at the same economy from a different angle. To him, the core driver of inflation right now is housing, and those cost increases are already slowing. Because housing filters into official inflation indexes with a lag of roughly a year, he argues that significant disinflation is already “in the pipeline.” In his view, current interest rates are too restrictive and are fighting yesterday’s war. He wants quick and aggressive cuts to protect employment before damage becomes visible in the hard data.
Crypto market, including XRP, lives off this tug-of-war. Lower rates and a weaker dollar tend to push investors out the risk curve into assets like altcoins. A hawkish Fed does the opposite: stronger dollar, tighter liquidity, and a higher hurdle for speculative trades. With markets only partially convinced about a December cut, XRP’s chart is behaving exactly like an asset waiting for confirmation.
XRP Price Prediction: What is the XRP daily chart actually showing right now?

The daily XRP/USD chart tells a very specific story.
First, trend structure. From late August into early October, XRP price was in a controlled daily downtrend, with price generally hugging the lower half of the bands and printing more red than green candles.
That phase culminated around mid-October in a violent flush: a long red Heikin Ashi candle with a deep lower wick that pierced well below the existing range. That looks like a capitulation spike, most likely triggered by liquidations or an external shock.
Second, the base-building phase. After that capitulation, price stabilized around a horizontal support region near 2.30 to 2.35, repeatedly revisiting that zone but refusing to break decisively lower.
The lower Bollinger band flattened and then gently turned up while the upper band drifted lower. This is classic post-selloff mean-reversion and volatility compression.
Right now, XRP is trading around 2.45. The latest daily bar shows:
- Open near 2.40, high around 2.52, low near 2.38, close at 2.45 with a gain of roughly 2.7%.
- Middle Bollinger band (20-day SMA) at 2.44.
- Upper band at about 2.70 and lower band near 2.19.
Price is sitting almost exactly on the 20-day SMA, slightly above it. That is important. After spending weeks in the lower half of the band structure, XRP has clawed back to the mean, with a series of small green Heikin Ashi candles and shorter lower wicks. This is a subtle transition from “oversold and under pressure” to “neutral and coiled.”
The bands themselves are narrower than they were around the October dump. Narrow bands mean realized volatility has fallen. Markets do not stay in low-volatility regimes forever; they tend to alternate between compression and expansion. Combine that with a binary macro catalyst in a few weeks, and the chart is effectively telegraphing: energy is being stored.
Which levels will decide the next leg for XRP Price?
On the downside, the key levels on this chart are:
- 2.30 to 2.35: short-term horizontal support where multiple lows have printed after the October flush. A clean daily close below this zone would signal that the base is failing.
- 2.19: approximate lower Bollinger band. A decisive break and hold below the band usually marks a new volatility expansion to the downside.
- The October capitulation low: the long wick around the mid-October event is the last-ditch line. If price revisits and breaks that area, it would signal a full reset and potentially open the door to a deeper bear leg.
On the upside, the chart already hints at possible targets via your drawn horizontal lines and the upper band:
2.70: upper Bollinger band and first major resistance. A daily close above this level with expanding bands would confirm that volatility is breaking upward. 2.90 to 3.10: cluster of your horizontal levels just above the upper band. This looks like a Fibonacci extension or previous structural resistance zone. Around 3.50 and potentially up toward 5.00: higher extension targets visible on the right side of the chart. Those are not immediate, but they matter for a sustained uptrend scenario if macro winds turn strongly in favor of risk assets.
In simple terms, XRP price is boxed between a maturing floor at 2.30 and a volatility trigger line around 2.70. The Fed’s December decision could decide which side gets taken first.
XRP News: What happens to XRP Price if the Fed cuts as Miran wants?
If the Fed sides more with Miran’s argument that inflation is already set to fall and delivers a clear rate cut, markets are likely to see that as confirmation that the easing cycle is alive and well. The reaction path for XRP in that environment often looks like this:
First, you typically see a knee-jerk risk-on move as yields fall, the dollar eases, and traders rotate into higher-beta plays. Given that XRP is already sitting at the Bollinger midline after a volatility squeeze, a bullish macro surprise could be enough to force a daily candle that rides into or even beyond the upper band.
Technically, the bullish sequence would be:
• Break and daily close above 2.70, accompanied by widening bands. That would complete a base-to-breakout pattern and confirm that the prior downtrend has likely ended.
• Follow-through toward 2.90 to 3.10 where you have horizontal levels marked. This is a natural profit-taking zone and where early longs from the base would reassess.
• If macro conditions continue to improve and inflows into altcoins accelerate, an extension toward 3.50 or higher becomes plausible over the subsequent weeks. In that case, the October capitulation would look like a classic final shakeout before a trend change.
A key nuance: futures markets already price about a 60% chance of a quarter-point cut. That means a small, expected cut may not be enough on its own. For XRP to really follow the upper path, the Fed probably needs to either signal a faster easing trajectory than markets expect or downplay inflation risks more strongly than Bostic’s camp is comfortable with.
XRP News: What if the Fed stays hawkish like Bostic and holds rates?
On the other side, imagine Bostic’s argument wins. The Fed holds rates, emphasizes that inflation remains sticky, and hints that further cuts in 2026 will be conditional on more proof of disinflation. In that scenario, risk assets usually wobble.
For XRP price, the chart setup is vulnerable to that kind of disappointment because price is still close to the range midpoint, not already deeply oversold. With bands sitting above and below price like a vice, a hawkish surprise could send XRP back to test the lower clamp.
The bearish path would likely look like this:
• Rejection below 2.50 followed by a daily close under 2.40, slipping back into the lower half of the Bollinger channel.
• A retest of 2.30 to 2.35 support. If that level fails on strong red candles, the lower band around 2.19 becomes the next magnet.
• A volatility expansion to the downside, with the lower band bending lower and price riding along it. That would put the October wick low back in play as an eventual target, especially if broader crypto sentiment turns risk-off at the same time.
In macro terms, a hawkish hold would reinforce the narrative of tight financial conditions and higher real rates, which is rarely friendly to speculative altcoins.
Is XRP Price already pricing in a shallow cut, or is there more upside optionality?
Right now, XRP price is not trading like a coin that has fully priced in an aggressive easing cycle. If markets were completely convinced about multiple cuts, you would probably see price already leaning hard on the upper band with steeper daily candles and larger ranges. Instead, the chart shows modest green candles and tight volatility.
That suggests two things. First, downside risk from a simple “no cut” outcome is significant because many traders are still positioned for a dovish Fed, even if not aggressively. Second, upside optionality from a more dovish-than-expected outcome is still very much alive. The compression itself is the opportunity: once direction is chosen, moves can be sharp precisely because no one has taken a strong view yet.
In that sense, XRP is mirroring the Fed narrative. Policymakers are split, futures pricing is tilted but undecided, and the chart is neutral-to-slightly-constructive but not yet trending.
What should traders watch as the decision approaches?
From a technical perspective, a few signals will be critical in the days leading into the December meeting:
• The slope of the 20-day SMA: if it turns up decisively and price holds above it, the base becomes stronger and the odds of an upside breakout improve. If it flattens or turns down again, the base weakens.
• The width of the Bollinger bands: continued narrowing means the eventual breakout could be violent. Early band expansion combined with a move through 2.70 would be your early confirmation that the move is starting.
• Price reaction to interim macro headlines: even small hints from Fed speakers or early data releases before the meeting will be test runs. If XRP shrugs off hawkish comments and continues grinding higher, that shows underlying demand. If it sells off hard on any hint of hawkishness, the market is fragile.
XRP Price Prediction: XRP as a leveraged bet on the Fed’s balancing act
Putting it all together, XRP is sitting in a classic “coil before the catalyst” zone. The macro backdrop is dominated by a rare open disagreement inside the Fed about whether inflation or unemployment is the bigger threat. Markets price a cut but are not fully committed. The chart shows volatility compression around the 20-day moving average with a clear, well-defined range between roughly 2.30 and 2.70.
If the Fed leans into Miran’s argument and opens the door to more cuts, XRP has room to break the upper band and push toward the 2.90–3.10 region, with 3.50 and above available on a sustained risk-on wave. If Bostic’s hawkish caution prevails and cuts are delayed or watered down, $XRP risks losing its base and revisiting the 2.30 floor and potentially the October lows.
For now, the chart is not screaming a direction; it is quietly telling you that the next major move will likely rhyme with whatever the Fed does in December. The job over the next few weeks is less about predicting the exact decision and more about respecting the levels that will tell you which camp won.
