Ethics and Independence
Ethics and Independence
Crypto is a field with strong commercial interests. These principles set out what we do and what we do not do.
Separation of editorial and advertising
Commercial content is labelled as such — as advertisement, sponsored or promotion. An article that has been paid for is never presented as independent reporting. We label affiliate links and explain them under Ownership and Funding.
Conflicts of interest
- Authors disclose when they hold a position in an asset they write about.
- Anyone involved in or advising a project does not report on it.
- We do not accept gifts, token allocations or travel expenses from projects where an expectation about coverage is attached. Where an invitation has been accepted, it is disclosed in the article.
Handling sources
We name sources wherever we can. We grant anonymity only where naming a person would create a real risk and the information cannot be obtained otherwise. In that case:
- The editorial team knows the identity of the source and assesses their credibility.
- A single anonymous source is not enough — a second, independent confirmation or a document is required.
- In the article we make clear why the source remains anonymous and how they relate to the events described.
- We do not break source protection once granted.
Price movements
We do not publish articles whose evident purpose is to move a price. Forecasts are labelled as forecasts; we state the methodology and the baseline of the calculation and do not present them as fact.
Reporting on people
We report on individuals with restraint, verify allegations before publication and, where allegations are serious, give those concerned the opportunity to respond.
Artificial intelligence
AI tools support our work but replace neither research nor responsibility. No article is published without human review. See our Editorial Guidelines.
