Educational forecast, not financial advice

Forecasts are projections based on historical patterns and editorial assumptions. Crypto markets are volatile and outcomes can differ significantly from these scenarios.

How we calculate this

Data sources

For our crypto forecasts we combine several data points:

  • Current price & historical data: live market data and daily history from CoinMarketCap.
  • Market sentiment: the Fear & Greed Index from alternative.me as an indicator of market mood.
  • Market size: total crypto market capitalisation, to put any move in context.

How we calculate the minimum, average and maximum prices

For each year our analysis team defines three scenarios – a conservative one (minimum), an expected one (average) and an optimistic one (maximum). We express these scenarios as a percentage change against the previous year.

The starting point is the price on the first trading day of the current year (taken from CoinMarketCap's historical data). We apply the annual scenarios to that starting value cumulatively: each new yearly figure builds on the previous year's value, multiplied by the respective percentage change of the scenario.

Example: starting price $40,000, average scenario for year 1 = +20%, year 2 = +15% → average price year 1 = $48,000, year 2 = $55,200.

What shapes the scenarios

When setting the annual scenarios we take into account, among other things:

  • Macroeconomic trends (interest rate policy, inflation, US dollar strength)
  • Coin-specific factors (halvings, roadmap, adoption, tokenomics)
  • Market cycle phase (accumulation, bull run, correction, bear market)
  • Regulatory developments in the key markets (US, EU, Asia)
  • Institutional adoption (ETFs, treasuries, corporate holdings)

Important note

This forecast is a scenario model, not investment advice. Crypto markets are highly volatile. Black swan events (hacks, regulatory intervention, market crashes) can make reality diverge sharply from any scenario. Never base investment decisions on forecasts alone – diversify, and only invest what you can afford to lose.

How we weight our methods for Helium

Not every analytical tool suits every crypto asset. This overview shows what we actually rely on for Helium – and what we deliberately leave out.

MethodWeightWhy
Network and usage datahighHelium Mobile subscriber numbers, connected access points and data carried are the only figures that prove real demand – independent of the crypto market.
Municipal and commercial partnershipshighEvery additional city and carrier that contributes its own infrastructure shifts the revenue base. The Celina case shows how strongly a single announcement can act.
Issuance and circulating supplyhighThe network pays for its build-out in newly issued tokens. As long as issuance grows faster than revenue, it acts as permanent supply pressure.
Derivatives positioningmediumThe late-August rise was carried by short covering. Open interest and funding rates explain short-term swings, but not annual targets.
Support and resistancemediumThe zones at $0.46 and $0.97 frame the short-term picture. They are of no use for multi-year targets.
Fibonacci retracementslowThe 2026 price history is shaped by a collapse and a covering wave and offers no clean reference frame for retracement levels.
Cycle and halving analysisnot applicableHelium has no halving. Issuance follows the network build-out rather than a fixed schedule, so a Bitcoin-style cycle projection is not possible.

We value Helium like an infrastructure operator rather than a crypto asset: as long as subscribers, integrations and data volumes grow, the scenarios hold up. If that proof fails to arrive, even the best network technology will not help in the short term. Our annual targets therefore hinge more on demand for coverage than on the chart.

Bullish Factors vs. Bearish Factors

What could drive the price up or down

Bullish Factors

  • A first municipal integration in live operation

The Texan city of Celina connected its public Wi-Fi to the Helium network on August 28, 2026, turning it into mobile coverage without building a single new tower. A reference case other municipalities can copy.

  • HeliumOS targets carriers, not investors

The operating system unveiled on September 1, 2026 bundles subscriber management, Wi-Fi offload and analytics for mobile providers. Its first customer comes from the Helium Mobile orbit.

  • Liquidity on major venues

HNT trades on Coinbase, Kraken, Bybit, Gate and Bitget among others; daily volume stood at around $58 million on September 4, 2026. (Source: CoinMarketCap)

Bearish Factors

  • The rise was carried by short covering

Between August 28 and 30 the price more than tripled. Moves of that speed come from the unwinding of leveraged short positions and leave no tested support zones behind.

  • Year to date the price is still deeply down

The price opened 2026 at $1.37 and trades at around $0.51. The rally recovers part of the year's losses, no more than that. (Source: CoinMarketCap, as of October 2026)

  • Ongoing issuance keeps adding supply

186.3 million HNT are in circulation against a maximum of 223 million. Hotspot operators are paid in newly issued tokens - supply pressure that works independently of demand.

Helium in October 2026: a wireless network with real customers, a price with a squeeze behind it

Helium is trading around $0.49 in October 2026, after hovering around $0.59 at the start of the month. August carried the price from $0.18 at the open to $0.65 at the close, peaking at $0.97 on August 30 (source: CoinMarketCap). Two verifiable events triggered the move: the Texan city of Celina connected its municipal Wi-Fi to the Helium network on August 28, and on September 1 Helium unveiled HeliumOS, an operating system aimed at mobile carriers. Market capitalisation stands at roughly $99 million.

Why the rise should be read with caution

A move of this size within a few days rarely comes from buying interest alone. It was accompanied by the unwinding of leveraged short positions – a mechanism that lifts prices quickly and releases them just as quickly. The pullback to $0.46 on September 3 shows how thin the order books are above the old trading range. The substance underneath – a wireless network running since 2019 with paying customers – has to be assessed separately from that.

The crypto market right now

Total value and sentiment of the market from our own charts. While the page is open, the values refresh at the pace of their source.

What actually moves the Helium price

Helium is a wireless network built not by a corporation but by its users: whoever runs a hotspot provides coverage and is compensated in HNT. What began as a LoRaWAN network for sensors has since been extended to mobile service and Wi-Fi offload – Helium Mobile sells plans to end customers, with coverage drawn partly from its own network and partly from a partner carrier.

That places Helium in the DePIN category: decentralised physical infrastructure. What separates it from purely narrative tokens is that hardware, contracts and revenue exist that do not originate in the crypto market. Technically the token runs on Solana, where the network migrated in 2023.

The metrics we watch on Helium

  • Helium Mobile subscribers: the only figure that proves paying end customers.
  • Municipal and commercial integrations: every city and provider that contributes its own access points lowers the cost of building out the network.
  • Data carried across the network: shows whether coverage is actually used or merely supplied.
  • Issuance and circulating supply: 186.3 million HNT are in circulation against a maximum of 223 million. Ongoing issuance to hotspot operators is structural supply pressure. (Source: CoinMarketCap)

The competition you can’t ignore

Helium competes less with other crypto projects than with established carriers that own licensed spectrum, towers and distribution. The decentralised approach has the advantage where conventional build-out does not pay for itself: indoors, in small towns, at individual sites. Our forecast therefore assumes niche success, not displacement. Within the DePIN segment, projects such as Render and, on the sensor side, IOTA compete for the same attention.

How this forecast could fail

August’s rise rests on two announcements. If further integrations fail to materialise, or if HeliumOS stays without a second customer, the move has nothing to build on. On top of that: a network that pays for its own expansion through token issuance must eventually generate revenue that exceeds that issuance. That proof is still outstanding.

Helium price prediction for October 2026: what the month can deliver

Helium enters October around $0.53 – after a September that took the price from $0.65 to $0.48, a loss of roughly 25.2 percent (source: CoinMarketCap). The range the month is most likely to play out in sits between the September low of $0.39 and the monthly high at $0.74.

What opens the month to the upside: a sustained close above the September high of $0.74, set on September 1. The fundamental argument for it is that HeliumOS is the first product aimed at network operators rather than investors. Above that, our own 2026 range extends to $1.28.

What tips it over: a break of the September low of $0.39, set on September 16. The counter-argument to the bullish case remains the nature of the August advance: it was carried by the unwinding of leveraged short positions, not by a measurable jump in network utilisation. Below it there would be room down to the lower end of our 2026 range at $0.24.

The dates that decide it: the US jobs report on October 2, consumer prices on October 14 and the Fed’s rate decision on October 28 – this time without updated projections. The PCE deflator and the ECB’s rate decision follow on October 29. More important than any of those dates, for HNT, is whether subscribers, connections and data volume grow measurably.

Helium price prediction 2026 to 2033: the scenarios

Short term (2026): hold, or back into the old range

The short term decides whether the breakout holds. In the base case, HNT oscillates between roughly $0.45 and $0.90 and builds new support above the old range. In the conservative case, the short-covering wave runs its course entirely and the price returns to the $0.20 zone it came from. The 2026 opening price of $1.37 stays out of reach even in the optimistic case.

Medium term (2027–2028): from wireless network to wholesale supplier

Over the medium term everything hangs on one question: do carriers buy capacity from Helium? In the base case a handful of further municipalities and providers come on board, the network grows slowly and the price recovers moderately. In the bullish case HeliumOS becomes the standard for Wi-Fi offload at several providers – and the price regions of the first half of 2026 come back within reach. In the bearish case Helium remains a technically interesting network without a viable revenue base.

Long term (through 2033): coverage as a commodity

The long-term thesis is that wireless coverage becomes a tradable commodity, and whoever supplies it in a decentralised and cheaper way takes share in niches. Our long-term targets deliberately assume flattening gains and account for the ongoing token issuance to hotspot operators, which raises supply year after year.

The biggest risks to the Helium forecast

A fall back into the pre-August range, the absence of follow-on customers for HeliumOS, regulatory requirements placed on wireless operators and continued issuance of new tokens can shift any scenario. Forecasts are orientation, not a guarantee.
