Update 25 September 2026: This guide from 22 March 2024 described an airdrop campaign that ended long ago. The BLOCK token was launched on 11 April 2024, the points programme is closed, and the project has since renamed itself BlockProtocol. We have removed the sign-up links and added what happened after the campaign.

In March 2024, the BlockGames community could collect Airdrop Points through a range of activities. After the public launch of the BlockGames app and more than 300,000 sign-ups for its player network, the project started a campaign for its own token, BLOCK. This article described how the BlockGames airdrop worked at the time.

What is BlockGames?

After the PIXEL and PORTAL airdrops in early 2024, many people were looking for further chances to receive free tokens from web3 gaming. BlockGames was one of the most talked-about candidates.

BlockGames set out to connect players across different blockchains and games in one community built on Universal Player Profiles, with BLOCK as the token of the ecosystem. It wanted to solve a common problem of new games: how to attract players and keep them engaged. The approach had two parts:

  • a toolkit that helps new games grow their player base quickly
  • a service layer for players that puts their experience first

The BlockGames app offered a BlockGames ID as a kind of gamer passport across games, directed traffic to partner games and rewarded contributions to the community.

According to the project, the BLOCK token was to be used for governance, staking and rewards. Points collected in the app were to be converted into BLOCK at the token launch; the exact rate had not been published at the time of writing.

What Were Social Points?

With the start of BLOCK farming on 8 March 2024, BlockGames added Social Points: users earned them for posts, reposts, quotes, replies and likes on X that mentioned BLOCK or the official BlockGames account. They came on top of the Airdrop Points for simple tasks and the Pace Points for regular activity, and could be collected until the Token Generation Event (TGE). More points were to mean a larger BLOCK allocation.

Taking part in the campaign in March 2024 involved these steps:

  • creating an account in the BlockGames app
  • linking an X account
  • completing the profile and starting tasks
  • installing the mobile app for Android or iOS
  • posting from the linked X account with BLOCK or the official BlockGames account tagged
  • points were credited every week

What Happened After the BlockGames Airdrop

  • Token launch: the BLOCK token was launched on 11 April 2024. The airdrop pool comprised 30 million BLOCK, 3 percent of the total supply of one billion tokens.
  • Price: BLOCK reached its highest price of about $0.60 on launch day. Since then the token has lost almost all of that value, and the major price trackers only show it with limited data.
  • New name, new focus: the project now calls itself BlockProtocol and describes itself as a network of agent-driven marketing channels for web3 brands, no longer primarily as a gaming network.

The Lesson From the BlockGames Airdrop

Engagement farming campaigns like this one reward activity on social media, not the use of a product. That generates attention quickly, but it says little about whether a token will hold its value after launch. Whether a token keeps its value depends on what the project builds after the launch, and BlockGames changed course instead. Current campaigns and a guide on how to judge them are collected on our crypto airdrop page, and the basics of blockchain gaming are explained in our play-to-earn guide.
