Pi Network: Pi Next hackathon offers 200,000 USDT as PI trades near its all-time low
Pi Network has published the schedule of its first Ecosystem Summit from November 17 to 19, which closes with the launch of the Pi Next hackathon and 200,000 USDT in prize money. PI trades only around 6 percent above its all-time low, and there is barely any trading in euros.

Pi Network has published the schedule of its first Ecosystem Summit. From November 17 to 19 the project will present new developer tools online, and on the third day the "Pi Next" hackathon launches with 200,000 USDT in prize money. So far this has given PI's price no tailwind: the token costs $0.0749, only around 6 percent above its all-time low from July.
For investors in Germany, two questions arise. What exactly is supposed to happen at the summit, and can PI be traded sensibly in euros at all? This overview answers both with figures, dates and the legal framework for buying, custody and tax.
Pi Ecosystem Summit: three online days from November 17
The Pi Ecosystem Summit is an online event run by the Pi Core Team, the development company behind Pi Network. It was announced on October 22; the exact schedule is set out in the Pi blog announcement of November 6. The first two days run as scheduled YouTube premieres on Pi Network's official channel, each at 8 a.m. Pacific Time. In Germany that is 5 p.m.
- November 17: developer platform, ecosystem initiatives and demos of Pi apps.
- November 18: artificial intelligence and the ecosystem.
- November 19: launch of a new hackathon, published via the official channels.
According to the announcement, the two founders Chengdiao Fan and Nicolas Kokkalis will also appear. After each premiere, the full recording and the individual sessions are to remain available separately on YouTube. The blog post does not name any specific products. It speaks in general terms of new announcements on the developer platform, technical demos and conversations with developers.
Pi Next hackathon: 200,000 USDT in prize money to close the event
A hackathon is a programming contest in which teams build applications within a limited time and are judged by a jury. Pi Next is set to be the latest contest of this kind in the Pi ecosystem. The prize pool is 200,000 USDT, paid in the stablecoin Tether rather than in PI.
That choice stands out. A project that wants to establish its own token as a means of payment is paying the biggest prize of its developer gathering in a dollar stablecoin. For developers there is a practical reason: a prize in USDT does not fluctuate with the PI price. The announcement has so far said nothing about eligibility, duration or judging; the details are due on November 19.
The summit is the occasion; the goal is more usage. Pi Network has for years promoted PI being used within its own ecosystem for apps, services and payments. The more applications actually run there, the more demand can arise that does not come solely from exchange trading. Whether the hackathon produces such applications can only be judged once it has ended.

Pi updates of October 29: Developer Portal, BlockExplorer and PiVerify
Pi Network has prepared the summit on the technical side. On October 29 the Core Team described several new features that are expressly meant to serve the summit as well:
- Developer Portal: the developer interface has been redesigned. Settings such as domains, API keys, app wallets and privacy details are now grouped in a single app configuration area.
- Pi BlockExplorer: the block explorer, the public view of all transactions, now shows the price performance of Launchpad tokens on the testnet, such as SLICE against Test-Pi. According to Pi Network, these test tokens will never reach mainnet.
- SoloHost: a new helper module lets existing applications be prepared with AI assistants for publication via Pi Desktop. By its own account, the network counts more than 420,000 nodes on which such apps can run.
- PiVerify: the identity service for third-party firms now also checks whether a face appears only once in the customer base and can trigger multiple liveness checks. PiVerify is paid for in PI.
For the price, the last point is the most interesting. If companies pay for a service in PI, demand arises that is tied to the token itself. Pi Network does not publish how large it is; the post gives no customer numbers or revenue for PiVerify.
Find the right exchange for your PIPI price: $0.0749 and around 6 percent above the all-time low
PI costs $0.0749 or €0.0672, according to CoinGecko at around 7:50 p.m. on Saturday evening. Over 24 hours it is down 0.6 percent, over seven days 4.4 percent and over 30 days 5.6 percent. The weekly high was $0.0783 on the evening of October 31, the weekly low $0.0739 in the early morning of November 4.
More important than the weekly move is the distance to the downside. The all-time low of $0.0706 dates from July 14, 2026. PI trades around 6.1 percent above it. The token is around 97.5 percent below its record high of $2.99 on February 26, 2025.
The market capitalisation, meaning price times circulating supply, is around $851 million. That puts PI at rank 78 on CoinGecko. According to CoinGecko, around 11.36 billion PI are in circulation, the total supply is 17.47 billion and the maximum supply 100 billion. Trading volume over the past 24 hours was around $2.9 million. Measured against market value that is little: less than 0.4 percent of the market capitalisation changes hands in a day.
PI in euros: only 0.27 percent of trading runs through euro pairs
For German investors, what matters is where PI can be traded in euros. On November 7 we analysed all 23 trading pairs on 15 venues that CoinGecko lists for PI. The basis is the 24-hour volume per pair reported by CoinGecko. cryptoticker.io compiled this analysis itself on November 7, 2026.
- Two pairs provide a euro price: PI/EUR on OKX with around $6,800 in daily volume and PI/EUR on Kraken with around $3,400.
- Together they account for 0.27 percent of total volume of around $3.9 million.
- A good 95.6 percent of volume trades against the stablecoin USDT.
- The largest single venue is OKX, with around 24 percent of all volume across all its PI pairs.
Compared with our first analysis, the euro share has fallen. On October 27 it stood at 0.55 percent, according to our article at the time. Euro trading is therefore not only small; it has roughly halved within eleven days. With such thin euro order books, bid and ask prices are often further apart than for large coins. Anyone buying larger amounts in euros moves the price on these pairs more easily themselves.
Levels for PI: $0.0706 on the downside, $0.0783 on the upside
Three levels emerge from the figures; they serve as points to watch and are not price targets:
- $0.0739: the weekly low of November 4. If PI falls below it, the price loses the lower bound of the current week.
- $0.0706: the all-time low of July 14. Below it there would be no earlier trading range for buyers to orient themselves by.
- $0.0783: the weekly high of October 31. Only above it would PI have recovered the decline of the past seven days.
The summit itself is not a price event with a set outcome. Earlier occasions for the project have not reversed the downtrend: after Pi Day in March the all-time low came in July, and after the protocol changes from August onwards the price is back just above it today.

Buying PI in Germany: MiCA exchanges and custody
The transition period of the EU's MiCA regulation expired on July 1, 2026. MiCA stands for Markets in Crypto-Assets and governs which providers may sell crypto assets to retail customers in the EU. For German customers this means purchases should go through an exchange with a MiCA licence. Which platforms hold this licence is shown in our comparison of regulated crypto exchanges. OKX and Kraken, the two platforms with a PI/EUR pair, are listed there.
The second point is custody. PI runs on its own blockchain, Pi Mainnet. Anyone wanting to withdraw coins from the exchange needs a wallet that supports this network, usually the Pi Wallet in the Pi Browser. Before your first withdrawal, check whether the exchange offers deposits and withdrawals via Pi Mainnet.
Pioneers, meaning users who mined PI through the app, follow a separate route. According to an analysis by crypto.news on November 6, users who completed a first migration to mainnet may now transfer a second portion of their balance, including eligible referral bonuses. After each migration, a 14-day waiting period applies, according to crypto.news, which cites the Pi documentation. In addition, voluntary lockups can hold part of the balance for longer. A balance in the app is therefore not the same as freely tradable coins.
Find a crypto exchange licensed in the EUHolding period and leverage: tax and risk when trading PI
For tax purposes, the German tax office treats PI like any other crypto asset. In Germany, gains from a sale are tax-free after a holding period of more than one year. If you sell earlier, the gain counts as a private disposal transaction. If all such gains in a year stay below €1,000, no tax is due; if the exemption limit is exceeded, the entire gain is taxable.
Mined PI and PI transferred via migration raise a question of their own: when does the holding period begin, and at what value do the coins enter the calculation? In such cases it pays to document inflows and sales completely from the start. A crypto tax tool does this automatically and calculates the holding period for each purchase.
Leveraged trading in a coin like PI calls for particular caution. Leverage means trading with borrowed money and multiplying gains and losses alike. If the price falls by a certain amount, the exchange forcibly closes the position, known as liquidation. With a token that has thin order books and an all-time low within sight, even small moves are enough for that.
Pi Network ahead of the summit: from November 17, results count
The summit is ten days away. Until then PI remains a token with little euro trading, a price just above its all-time low and a project that is currently announcing a great deal for developers. Three steps help put it into context:
- Choose an exchange: If you want to trade PI, the crypto exchange comparison shows fees and offerings of the major platforms, including OKX and Kraken with PI/EUR.
- Check the licence: Make sure the provider holds a MiCA licence. The overview of regulated crypto exchanges lists them.
- Prepare for tax: Record the purchase date, purchase price and mined amounts, most easily with one of the crypto tax tools in our comparison.
You can follow the summit on YouTube on November 17 and 18, each from 5 p.m. German time. The terms for Pi Next are due on November 19.
